Convert DBC to Excel online

Upload nothing, install nothing: drop your .dbc file below and export every message and signal to a formatted Excel workbook — factor, offset, min/max, units and value descriptions included. Parsing and export run entirely in your browser.

  • One row per signal with message ID, DLC and cycle time
  • Physical min/max after factor/offset scaling — not raw bit ranges
  • VAL_ value descriptions and CM_ comments carried into the sheet
  • UTF-8 safe: umlauts and CJK comments survive the export

How it works

  1. 1Open the DBC viewer and drop your .dbc file (or click the sample).
  2. 2Check the message and signal tables — search by name or CAN ID.
  3. 3Click Export and choose Excel (XLSX). The file is generated locally and downloaded immediately.

Frequently asked questions

Is my DBC file uploaded to a server?

No. The file is read with the browser's File API and parsed by JavaScript running on your machine. You can watch the network tab — there is no upload request.

Is the Excel export free?

Everything available today is free to use; there is currently no paid product. The current preview exports the first 20 rows. Full export and batch conversion will be available when Pro launches.

Does it handle extended CAN frames and J1939-style files?

Extended 29-bit IDs are flagged automatically, and common vendor extensions are tolerated — unknown lines are reported in the diagnostics panel instead of aborting the parse.

Your file never leaves your browser

CANpeek parses DBC and A2L files entirely client-side — there is no upload step, no account, and nothing stored. There is currently no paid product; full export is planned for Pro.
